The handbell choir's motto is "play a little and laugh a lot!" It is led by director Janet Szilagyi and practices on Sundays after coffee fellowship. The bell choir provides music for holiday and other occasional services throughout the year. It is often invited to perform at other locations in the county. The regular choir practices on Thursday evenings from 7:00 to 8:00. Also led by Janet Szilagyi, it is accompanied by our organist/pianists Pam Schwer and Christie Warnick, and pianist Ryan Hardesty. Performances are often enhanced by the addition of instruments such as the flute, clarinet, guitar and viola. Both choirs welcome new members and guest musicians. We have presented seven concerts to raise funds for a school in Uganda and Food for Preston. Between them we've raised over $13,000! Our choirs and musicians were joined by choirs from other area churches, Preston High School, the Preston County Community Chorus, and individuals for these performances, which were wonderful and well-received. After each concert, we host a dessert reception for all who attend. It makes for a great evening and a wonderful kick-off to the holiday seasons! If you are a musician or vocalist who would like to join us when we present the next concert, please call Janet Szilagyi at 304-329-1514. The next concert is planned for November 17th, 2019, but may not happen due to the pandemic. |
